Alfiere continues his fight against falsification.
During the last Expo Riva Schuh at Riva Del Garda, the police officers responsible for border control and for investigation fraud, made three confiscations of samples patented and copied from community exhibitors.
The last confiscation involved Alfiere’s own designed and produced models.
The managers of the company situated in Montecosaro detected about 70 models that were perfect imitation of theirs.
“By now it is four or five seasons , we have to run into our models –says Claudio Sagripanti- by Chinese, Malaysian or Indian manufacture Companies. We always try to protect our work based on a constant research and innovation, registering our products through the European legislation, but unfortunately often it is a losing battle.
If the copy comes from the Eastern countries – explains Claudio Sagripanti- the following marketing operations pass through various European companies operating on the market. It is a turnover that both the police and we know well, but it is not easy to stop. In fact, just last October, we made the police seize from various French shops, about 20 Thousand pairs of shoes copied from our winter collection. If that means we create a high quality product, it is also causes an appreciable damage to our company. So besides fighting the competition with other brands, we also have to settle up with who confuses our Italian and European customers faking our shoes”.
Alfiere SpA continues to work hard with innovation and research, because they truly believe that it is the only way to fight the illegal competition.

The aims of this experimental project are to develop innovative solutions for environmentally friendly footwear starting with those products which are most representative of the company and to design a highly flexible summer and winter ‘mono-product’ which can be modified through the use of the interchangeable parts applied to it according to the season in which it is meant to be worn.

Fight against counterfeiting
The Community office of Trade Marks and Design in Alicante has recently accepted all
of the Khriò collection patented by Alfiere as definite Community design and therefore
against the Pons Quintana SA society that had presented eight appeals.
This provisional duty decision grants originality of the Alfiere models whilst contemporary
concluding that Pons Quintana illegally duplicated essential characteristics.
Moreover, this decision also establishes that all action undertaken by Pons Quintana against
Alfiere footwear, as well as all stores that sell the footwear, was unfounded.
Also, in March 2008 Spanish authorities sequestered footwear from Creaciones Alpe S.L
on the basis that the models stored in their stockroom had characteristics that were unquestionably
based on Alfiere designs.
The actions taken by Alfiere to protect our interests from competitors as well as those taken
to attack rival companies are characterized by our policy to aim for high product quality
whilst applying extensive stylistic research, together with a keen interest for intellectual
property.
By communicating these important outcomes, Alfiere wishes to thank all collaborators for
their invaluable contribution and to assure all clients of our attention to detail towards the
quality of products and innovation of design as well as the protection of these products.

Fight against counterfeiting
Alfiere Spa: a clear example in the creation, defence and market assertion of creative
product originality and aesthetics.
Nowadays, talking about company development, the word you hear most is “INNOVATION”;
the need for companies to adopt policies aimed at improving products technically
and aesthetically, controlling distribution and brand communication. This along with the
need to create an external system enabling them to save money synergically to lower
production costs and make the product quality/ price ratio more attractive for consumers.
In order to grow on a highly competitive market, Alfieri Spa has invested a lot in the design
of its women’s footwear and accessories over the last five years. It has also systematically
registered them as Community designs and models.
That Alfieri’s style research has been a winning element is proved by the considerable
growth in turnover over recent periods and by a growing number of imitations and forgeries
of its footwear models against which it has used all means and taken all legal
measures reserved for the owners of registered Community designs.
Alfiere has involved all its collaborators in its innovation policy; from employees to agents
in the different areas as well third party suppliers and customers, aimed at:
1. communicating how original its products are and spreading a sense of security and
tranquillity amongst those who have commercial relations with the company; this was especially
appreciated by a clientele wanting to be safeguarded against any legal problems
linked to forgeries which companies usually turn to nowadays to protect their markets;
2. receiving information, in real time, on the existence of forgeries damaging it; this to
be able to act immediately in defence of its rights by sending out intimations generally followed by out-of–court transactions in Alfiere’s favour:
- exclusive rights to its designs;
- payment of an amount as compensation for damages and to refund expenses;
- a commitment taken by said companies not to produce, commercialise or to withdraw
the footwear or accessory models that are identical or similar to those covered by Community
registered designs belonging to Alfiere from the market.
Furthermore, at the various National and International footwear sector Trade Fairs, such
as Riva del Garda and MICAM in Milan, Madrid and Paris, Alfiere presented a series of
accusations against companies exhibiting forged copies of its community design models,
followed by seizure during which the corporate names of companies from outside the
Community emerged; in fact, they were third party manufacturers for European buyers
present at the various sector trade fairs.
Consequently, to block imports of forged models during customs clearance, Alfiere sent
all European Customs Authorities copies of its registered Community design patent rights
and the names of those companies from outside the European Community that it
had acquired knowledge of.
In this way, the Company has won important out-of-court victories in both France and
Spain. |
